Early Career
- 1996 and 1997, played guest roles on television series, including Mr. Rhodes, Sweet Valley High, and Cybill.
- 1997, cast as Eric Brady, a recurring role on NBC’s Days of Our Lives.
- Performance on Days, as trouble-maker Sammy Brady’s good twin, earned Jensen Ackles the 1998 Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Male Newcomer, three consecutive nominations (1998, 1999, and 2000) for Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series.
- 2001, appeared in Blonde, the mini-series about Marilyn Monroe.
- 2001, auditioned for the role of Clark Kent on Smallville.
- 2001, guest starred on one first season episode of Dark Angel as Ben/X5-493, the psychopathic “brother” of Jessica Alba’s character, Max/X5-452. Although Ben/X5-493 died in that episode, Ackles was written back into the second season of Dark Angel as Ben’s twin, Alec/X5-494, who managed to live through, and appear in, the remainder of the series, until it was canceled in 2002.
- 2003, guest starred on The WB’s Dawson’s Creek, as CJ, Jen’s lover.
- 2003, played Max Morgan in Still Life, a Fox Network show canceled before it ever aired.

- Though he declined a role in Tru Calling, the show’s creators liked his name, they re-named the character to “Jensen”.

Supernatural Years

- 2006, Priestly in the indie film Ten Inch Hero. Praised by critics and audiences for his portrayal of Priestly.
- June 2007, played Lt. Daniel Kaffee in A Few Good Men at Casa Mañana Theatre in Fort Worth, Texas. Lou Diamond Phillips also appeared in the production. Despite this being his first professional stage production, Ackles was critically acclaimed.
